Focus – help your child to narrow down the options of what and where to study, this can start as early as their GCSE studies as their decision may influence their A-level choices.

Research – do your own research, think about the location of the university as well as the courses on offer. Check out our guide to Choosing the right course and university.

Open Days – a great way to find out more and to get a feel for the atmosphere and culture of a university. We’ve given you some ideas of What to look out for at an Open Day.

Deadlines – be aware of what needs to be done when and plan accordingly, factoring in time for your child to write their personal statement. See our guide to UCAS and the application process for information.

Know your jargon – get to grips with university speak. Your child could receive up to five offers from their chosen universities. Our understanding university offers guide will help.
