School Strategy
Future Humanities
Our vision for the School is to become a leading provider of flexibly delivered taught programmes that are global in perspective, accessible by design, and which provide students with the skills and experiences required for the future of work.
Global Humanities
Our School will continue to provide international leadership in research and teaching on the historic past, critical present, and creative futures. We will develop our work on global, as well as local heritage, on world literature and the digital, and on culture, capital, creativity for a compelling programme in public humanities with international reach and appeal.
Engaged Humanities
Building on our reputation for excellence in individual-led research, we will develop our identity as a pioneer of challenge-led, collaborative ‘engaged humanities’ research, responsive to societal challenges and committed to principles of social justice, equality and diversity.
Civic Humanities
Through its research, teaching, and collaboration and co-creation with the arts and heritage sectors, the School of Humanities will enrich communities, support schools and champion participative democracy, social justice, and human rights, locally, regionally, and across the UK.
