Luke and examiners celerbrating post viva

Luke's thesis, titled “Theoretical and experimental study of the electronic structure of FeSe”, presents a study of the electronic structure of the iron-based superconductor FeSe, a material that exhibits both superconductivity below 8 K and a rotational symmetry breaking nematic transition below 90 K. By closely combining theoretical methods with angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments it was possible to extract detailed quantitative information about both the nematic and superconducting state. The results obtained within this thesis additionally provide strong evidence to suggest that superconductivity within FeSe is mediated by spin fluctuations.

Luke is now working as a Postdoc in the group of Peter Wahl at St Andrews university. I am performing low-temperature STM experiments on strongly correlated materials.
