  • Date23 May 2016

We are now accepting applicants for its new MA Philosophy programme, which comprises three pathways/streams:

European Philosophy: includes focus on German Idealism, the Frankfurt School, and French philosophical movements from Bergson and existentialism to poststructuralism and psychoanalysis.  Available options include Continental aesthetics and political philosophy.

Modern Philosophy: enables students to investigate both Continental and Analytic traditions of contemporary philosophy, with a focus on recent work that crosses the divide between them.

Political Philosophy: Advanced training in key thinkers and issues from both Anglo-American and Continental political thought.  Research interests among the teaching staff include applied analytical political theory (with issues such as immigration, citizenship and the politics of recognition), post-Nietzschean theories of identity and post-identity politics, democratic theory and pragmatist philosophy.

Applicants will normally have the equivalent of a UK upper second class honours degree in a relevant subject, but students with a lower second class result will also be considered.

The programme has now been fully validated for the 2016/17 academic year.
