Merging an overall conceptual framework drawn from social theory and historical anthropology with the methods and materials of historical musicology, this research training network studied the transfer and exchange of musical cultures in Europe between circa 1550 and 1750.
The network was funded by the Swedish Foundation for International Co-Operation in Research and Higher Education between 2012 and 2018, and was a collaboration between Uppsala University, Royal Holloway (co-investigator Stephen Rose), and the Bach-Archiv Leipzig. It ran twice-yearly workshops for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and staff at the partner institutions, and supported placements and exchanges for PhD students.
