Elizabeth Drew studied the clarinet at the Guildhall School of Music with Antony Pay, Thea King and Andrew Marriner, and at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover with Hans Deinzer.

Following a period working in the Staatsphilharmonischesorchester in Mainz, Germany, Elizabeth was based in Spain performing throughout the country with the Emperor String Quartet, Moscow Virtuosi and with her duo partner John York before returning to the UK.

Elizabeth plays regularly with the London Symphony Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra but is also on the player lists for BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Contemporary and chamber music projects have resulted in collaborations with London Concertante, Kokoro, Ixion, Continuum, Lontano and the Riot Ensemble.

Elizabeth considers teaching to be a vital part of her role as a musician. She has taught for the Royal Marines Band Service, the Royal Academy of Music, Reading University and Royal Holloway University of London. She has adjudicated for MIT Dublin, the Guildhall School of Music and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire as well as for various music festivals and competitions. She is a member of the examining panel for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Elizabeth has had an advisory role working with the composer Hywel Davies for various publications for Boosey and Hawkes and is a ‘Visiting Performing Artist’ for Dawkes Woodwind and Brass Specialists.
