Flute
Alison Myles studied in the French Flute School tradition with the great flute player, Maxence Larrieu. Lessons and masterclasses by Peter Lloyd, Geoffrey Gilbert, James Galway and William Bennett have also influenced her style.
Before settling in the UK, Alison worked full time in Australia with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
After a successful Wigmore Hall debut recital, there followed five solo concert tours of Asia and Australia. These included many recitals with piano and harp, as well as broadcasts for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Singapore Broadcasting Corporation. On two occasions, she was Artist in Residence at the Victorian College of the Arts. Ambassadorial concerts for both Australia and France have featured, and in the UK, many Music Society concerts and National Trust recitals. Her freelance orchestral work has included established contemporary ensembles with such venues as St John’s Smith Square and Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Alison is an experienced teacher at degree level, having taught for many years at Royal Holloway, University of London. She works with performance students, post-graduate and international students, and enjoys giving performance masterclasses and coaching chamber music.
Other positions have been held at University of Reading, University of Tasmania, and the Australian National University, School of Music.
Handmade flutes by Powell and Arista give her playing a wealth of tone colour and imagination.
