Our courses attract a wide range of students – from talented and enthusiastic graduates to those already in the industry or with relevant experience in other fields who want to step up their careers and explore new avenues. We offer a range of exciting field trips and industry visits across our programmes, ranging from masterclasses at DocHouse through to on-set observation of TV productions in full swing, television and film festivals.

Graduates from our programmes have gone on to write major feature films (MASTFiR), won first prize at Open City Doc Fest (MA Documentary), screened films in international festivals winning a string of awards (MA Producing), or gone on to careers in major global media organisations (MA International Media Management).

We offer students across all courses a programme of study that is at the cutting edge of professional practice. You’ll be taught by staff who have won BAFTA, Royal Television Society and Power to the Pixel awards as well as produced some of the biggest shows in British television history, including EastEnders, Big Brother and the television adaptation of Le Carre’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Staff continue to be at forefront of innovation in their field, including current productions such as BBC2’s Hospital (2017), BBC3’s The Men Who Sleep in Trucks (2016) and Channel 4’s film The Ballroom Boys (2016).

With most of our courses benefiting from teaching in our Central London Campus (Bedford Square) location, students benefit from both structured and informal cooperation from industry and from peers across degree programmes.

All courses have access to both our beautiful Egham, Surrey campus and our Central London Campus at Bedford Square in the iconic Bloomsbury district. See individual course pages for the primary location of your course.

Our central London location for MA Producing and MA Documentary puts students at the heart of an international media city as well as a global cultural capital. Bedford Square has an exciting academic and cultural history, you have easy access to major cultural events as well as the wide array of academic support available in this prime location. The Barbican, The South Bank, the cinemas and media facilities of London’s West End are close by, as are the University of London Central Library at Senate House and the library and archives of the British Film Institute. Our central London site also includes edit facilities for students to hone their creative skills and polish their films.

At Egham, our MA Immersive Storytelling and MA International Media Management programmes benefit from our fantastic on-site facilities. Media Arts students have exclusive 24-7 media labs and post-production rooms, complemented by our impressive range of professional location filming equipment, TV and sound studio facilities, supported by our dedicated and approachable technical team
