Legal Advice Centre

Legal Advice Centre

Our student-led Legal Advice Centre at Royal Holloway, University of London opened its doors in January 2020.

We provide free legal advice and information services on various areas of law to address unmet legal needs in the community. Our Student Advisers are provided with an invaluable opportunity to see how the law works in practice, whilst being supervised by practising solicitors.

Students across the Department of Law and Criminology also engage in a wide range of outreach projects and clinics at the Legal Advice Centre, which include the following:

  • The Street Law Clinic, where students engage with various partners to deliver interactive legal workshops.
  • Along with 10 other institutions that are part of the University of London, some of our students have joined the Refugee Law Clinic based in Central London (School of Advanced Study, University of London).
  • Research-led projects that are developed in collaboration with other academics, and external partners.
  • Our public legal education project invites external speakers to deliver workshops and webinars on hot topics on law. We also provide legal information to explain the law in a simple and accessible way.

The Legal Advice Centre prepares our students for practice in the legal world, and gives them a chance to be legally creative, making a real impact in helping people in our communities.
