The talk will focus on the show business #MeToo scandal in Greece and its implications
Dr. Jenny Korkodeilou will deliver a talk as part of the LEX (Law, Gender, and Sexuality Research Network) seminar series which is run online on Wednesday 26th January 2022, at 14:00 (UK time).
Dr. Korkodeilou will speak about the recent high-profile cases of sexual harassment, misconduct, and rape in the Greek show business, television and National Theatre of Greece and resultant #MeToo emergence and (re)awakening. In this talk, which is based on preliminary work on the Greek #MeToo phenomenon, she will problematize notions of power, art, gender, victimisation, complicity and politicization of crime through the lens of feminist thinking and gender-based abuse. Ultimately she will attempt to shed light into one of the biggest sexual abuse scandals that is still underway in Greece, the country that gave birth to the sacred art of theatre and its repercussions in light of post #MeToo era. Related theoretical, social and cultural implications will be identified, highlighted and considered.
