The impact of our research in History is incredibly important to us - it enables us to champion an engaged study of history where we can encourage activism in our students, using examples of our own research and its impact in the world to inspire them. Therefore we are proud to have the quality of our research impact judged in this way.

Head of Department Dr Daniel Beer said, “I’m absolutely thrilled with History’s strong showing in the REF 2021, which is a testament to the depth and quality of our research and the energy and talents of my colleagues. 85% of the department’s research has been judged to be either world leading or internationally excellent and 100% was judged in the two highest categories for its impact.”
