Research funding
GDSJ members’ research has been supported in recent years via grants and fellowships from an impressive number of sources including RCUK (ESRC, AHRC, EPSRC), the EU (EU FP7), UK government (Foreign and Commonwealth Office; Dept for International Development – now merged into the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; Dept for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs; British Council; Ministry of Defence; Defence Science and Technology Laboratory; Newton Fund); organisations and trusts (British Academy; Leverhulme Trust), disciplinary and regional associations (Royal Geographical Society; Development Studies Association; Association of Southeast Asian Studies in the UK; the Urban Studies Foundation; Mobile Lives Forum); NGOs and Charities including the Freedom Fund, and the private sector (AXA Research Fund; National Geographic).
