Congratulations to Professor Robert Hampson, who has been appointed a Research Fellow at the Institute for English Studies starting from October 2019.

Professor Robert Hampson has been appointed a Research Fellow at the Institute for English Studies (IES) starting from October 2019. Research fellows are established researchers with a significant record of achievement. Per IES, "In making awards, the Institute hopes that prospective Fellow’s engagement with IES will be sustained over time."

Professor Robert Hampson was chosen for his expertise, research, and writings on Joseph Conrad, which include three monographs on Conrad, co-edited two collections of essays, and edited several editions of the author's work. His current area of research is on Conrad, borders and transnationalism. 

The Institute for English Studies is a member institute at the University of London. Its multifaceted mission is to promote and offer advanced study and research, facilitated academic discussion, and a centre for excellence in English studies including English Language, literature, palaeography and the history of the book.
