EE students project presentation
The Electronic Engineering department has maintained high student satisfaction scores for the fifth year running after students gave an impressive 100% overall satisfaction rating on the quality of their academic experience in a number of key themes.
Top scores were recorded in seven question areas, including stimulating courses, students having the right balance of directed and independent study, and easy to contact teaching staff, to fair assessment that demonstrates what’s learned and students having opportunities to express views and ideas.
The positive set of results position Electronic Engineering at Royal Holloway in first place out of 63 university departments in the sector.*
Head of the Electronic Engineering Department, Professor Steve Alty commented,
“We are delighted to see that our NSS 2024 results place us overall first among all the other Electronic Engineering departments in the UK.
We’ve performed consistently well in the NSS since our first students graduated five years ago, and we’re proud to maintain our strong track record once again this year. One of the key reasons our students report satisfaction is that they find our courses intellectually stimulating and they feel that our assessments allow them to demonstrate what they have learned.
These outstanding results are a testament to our friendly, supportive environment and dedicated team of staff and technicians. All of us are incredibly pleased to receive such positive feedback from our students about their learning experiences.“
The NSS is an annual, independent survey of final year students carried out by the Office for Students on behalf of the UK higher education funding and regulatory bodies.
Questions are asked about the quality of teaching and support, learning resources and outcomes, assessment and feedback, university services and facilities, plus the impact of the student voice. The data is collected anonymously, allowing students to give honest answers, and results are provided as a positivity score, which is based on an average of all 27 questions asked of students.
At institution level Royal Holloway saw an increased positive response, with 81% average satisfaction, which is a larger improvement than seen across the sector.
