We are delighted to welcome Flavia Cavallini, who will be joining us from the European University Institute on an ESRC Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Economics.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of Applied Labour, Health, and Gender economics, in particular, regarding topics in demography, early childcare, and female labour market policies. Some of her research explores the role of labour market conditions in fertility and abortion choice, showing that rises in local unemployment rates induce higher abortion rates and lower fertility rates. In other research, she and her co-authors investigate the effect of gender quotas in political representation on local childcare provision and public finances in Italy.
