Prof Arnaud Chevalier (Economics) and colleagues Cassie Schwartz (Politics), Kaili Rimfeld (Psychology) and Giovanni Travaglino (Law and Criminology) met with pupils and their parents at two local schools to discuss their newest research findings on racial discrimination, immigration policies, genetics and educational attainment, and organised crime.
The event generated lively discussions with the pupils and the results below suggest that talking about economics research can inspire young people and change perceptions. We hope that the events piqued the interest of some to become social scientists in the near future.
These events would not have been possible without the dedication of the staff at Waldegrave school and St Bernard’s school, a big thank you to Mr Parker and to Ms Symons, and also support from the RHUL Impact Accelerator @RHSocSci.
