Andrew C. Scott

Andrew Scott is Distinguished Research Professor in Ancient and Modern Fire Systems. 

His PhD was on The Ecology of Carboniferous vegetation.

His research has dealt with aspects of palaeobotany, palynology, coal geology, petrology and geochemistry, the geological history of wildfire and the role of fire on Earth and the use of charcoal in coal as an atmospheric oxygen proxy. In 2001 he published a book on some of the Queen’s scientific drawings held in Windsor Castle. He has published more than 240 scholarly articles and written or edited 12 books. He appears regularly in radio programmes and is currently a member of the England and Wales Wildfire Forum.
