Professor Fagnani is a world-leading expert in the field of control and dynamics  over networks. His research work has addressed fundamental problems at the  interplay between control and information theory and, more recently, in the  field of opinion dynamics, consensus formation and distributed learning  algorithms. He has co- authored over 100 publications among journal papers and  peer-reviewed conferences. He serves as Associate Editor of prestigious journals  such as IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control and IEEE Transactions on Control  of Network Systems. In 2017, for his outstanding contributions to the field of  control and dynamical systems, he was the recipient of the prestigious Petar  Kokotovic distinguished professorship from the University of Santa Barbara. From  June 2012 to September 2019, he was the Head of the Department of Mathematical  Sciences of Politecnico di Torino. During his tenure, the department has been  awarded ‘Department of Excellence’ by the Italian Ministry of Education,  University and Research for the period 2018-2022.
