Code Groovers BCS Practice Higlight

Code Groovers is the commercial software development arm of the Department of Computer Science, where students are the software developers. As part of a recent accreditation visit, the British Computing Society (BCS) awarded Code Groovers a BCS Practice Highlight. The BCS panel awards practice highlights for examples that are "exemplary in context, potentially portable to other HEIs, and evidentially successful".

Established in May 2017, Code Groovers operates with a governance structure (e.g. CEO, Board of Directors, university stakeholders), well-established business processes and a technology infrastructure that are aligned to the ones typically found in an industry setting.

Over the last 2.5 years, Code Groovers student developers have successfully delivered more than a dozen projects for several clients, ranging from full-stack software development, to mobile apps and proof of concepts.
