The Athena Swan Charter is a framework which is used across the globe to support and transform gender equality within higher education (HE) and research.

Our Equality Diversity and Inclusion Lead Dr. Matteo Sammartino said:

"This is a fantastic achievement for our Department, in recognition of our efforts and results in tackling gender inequality. I would like to thank the CS EDIC Committee for the the hard work that went into this submission. My heartfelt thanks to Katerina Finnis, the EDI Manager, and Prof. Lizzie Coles-Kemp, the EPMS EDI Director, who have supported our application and provided invaluable feedback."

There is still much work to do. We are increasingly aware of EDI and the need for intervention and commitment to achieve real change, especially considering the effects of Covid-19 and Brexit. This is reflected in our wider range of key priorities (six), which build on and complement the ones identified in 2016, and in a more comprehensive and SMART(er) action plan tackling those priorities. Our submission can be downloaded here.
