Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services (BES)

Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services (BES)

In the BES Theme we study the way that organisms react, adapt and interact.

We work with a range of living systems, from microbes to mammals, addressing long-standing and emergent biological problems. Since the foundation of the College in the 19th century, Royal Holloway has established a reputation for fundamental field-based research.

Today, we support those classical approaches with state-of-the-art molecular and mathematical techniques. We are linked to colleagues at universities, museums and other institutions around the world, and conduct fieldwork and laboratory research in Europe, Asia and the US.
