World-leading research impact of Biological Sciences confirmed by REF21

The latest Research Excellence Framework, REF 2021 results published on Thursday confirm Royal Holloway’s position as a world-leading research-intensive university in the area of Biological Sciences.

The REF21 results reveal that 100% of our research impact was judged to be 4* and 3* world-leading and internationally excellent in terms of its originality, significance and rigour. This places the department in the top 25% of departments nationally for research impact.

High scores were also awarded for research output (85%) and research environment (75%) for 4* and 3* world-leading and internationally excellent standards.
