Undergraduates from Royal Holloway’s School of Biological Sciences have been helping local schools to learn about, and make homes for, wildlife from beetles to birds, fauna to fungi in their school grounds.

Schools Biodiversity Project

The Schools Biodiversity Project works with schools to help them to make the most of their green spaces. This includes light boxes to monitor moths, teaching pupils to pond dip and even using camera traps to see what mammals make their way to school after dark. Prof Alan Gange and Dr Deborah Harvey work with schools to help them work what they can do to improve their biodiversity as well as provide support to implement the projects. When needed, they are paired with trained undergraduate students to help run purpose-written and curriculum-linked projects.
