The National Student Survey (NSS) 2020, published today (15 July 2020) shows that Royal Holloway, has exceeded the sector average score for overall satisfaction for the third year in a row.
Royal Holloway achieved a score of 87% for overall student satisfaction, four percentage points above the sector average.
Royal Holloway’s overall satisfaction score is higher than 20 of the 22 Russell Group universities which appear in the survey and, at 87%, is equal to that of the other two universities in the group who appear in the survey.*
The NSS, which is an independent student survey carried out by the Office for Students on behalf of the UK higher education funding and regulatory bodies, is used by universities and colleges as well as student unions to drive improvements across multiple areas of students’ academic experience. It is also used by prospective students to help inform their decision making about which university to choose and what to study. The survey captured the views of over 311,432 students across the UK.
Professor Paul Layzell, Principal of Royal Holloway, said: “We recognise that this has been a difficult year for our whole community. Despite the challenges we’ve faced, I believe our above sector average score for overall student satisfaction reflects our commitment to supporting our students to succeed and the quality of education that we strive to offer here at Royal Holloway.
“For the third year in a row, feedback on the quality of our course teaching is amongst the highest across UK universities. We also recognise how important it is to provide an effective framework to support the education of our students and so I am pleased that our score for the organisation and management of courses is also among the highest in the same group.
“At Royal Holloway our purpose is to advance knowledge and we strive to offer all students from all backgrounds the opportunity to succeed and achieve their goals. When students come to Royal Holloway, they join a unique university with a supportive community and I am delighted that our students have once again given us such a high satisfaction rating.”
Participants in the NSS at Royal Holloway, University of London were final year undergraduates.
