Royal Holloway appoints Professor Tracy Bhamra as Senior Vice-Principal for Student and Staff Experience

Royal Holloway, University of London, has appointed Professor Tracy Bhamra as Senior Vice-Principal for Student and Staff Experience. Tracy will join Royal Holloway from 1 May 2021 and will hold the professorial title of Professor of Design for Sustainability.

Tracy joins Royal Holloway from Loughborough University where she has held the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise since 2015 and is also Professor of Sustainable Design.

At Loughborough, Tracy is responsible for the university’s academic knowledge exchange and impact, student and graduate enterprise activity, and science park along with engagement with external organisations and regional collaboration, winning the accolade of Outstanding Entrepreneurial University at the Times Higher Education Awards in 2019. Tracy has been the Dean of the Design School at Loughborough University and previously held posts at Cranfield University and the University of Manchester.

Tracy is a member of Council for the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) and a member of the Research Excellence Framework 2021 Sub-Panel 32 (Art & Design: History, Practice & Theory). She is also a member of Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council College of Peers, a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET).

Talking about her appointment, Tracy said: “I am very excited to be joining Royal Holloway with its long history of academic excellence, inclusivity, and reputation for a strong student experience. I am looking forward to working across the university with students and staff to build on this and ensure that the student and staff experience is second to none.”
