Newly appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience

Royal Holloway have appointed Zainab Khan as Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience. She will be joining the University on 31 July.

As Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience, Zainab will have the opportunity to work with teams from educational transition and success, curriculum design, pedagogies and assessment to employability and skills and wellbeing and student engagement.

She will also work in partnership with students to foster an inclusive and supportive culture of high achievement and continuous improvement.

Zainab comes to Royal Holloway from London Metropolitan University (London Met) where she has been Pro-Vice-Chancellor Teaching and Learning and Director of the Centre for Equity and Inclusion since 2019.

At London Met, she held a large portfolio leading the education and equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategies, as well as managing departments overseeing teaching and learning, staff professional development, education development, the Access and Participation Plan and EDI.

With professional roots in law, Zainab was called to the Bar in 2006 and worked in a civil practice law firm whilst transitioning to an academic career. 

Commenting on her appointment, Zainab said: “I am thrilled to be joining Royal Holloway, an institution with a philosophy deeply rooted in education and research as vehicles for social change. 

“I look forward to working with colleagues across the University to deliver excellent outcomes for our students and staff, whilst also ensuring we deliver our civic mission for all who stand to benefit from the outstanding research and education that Royal Holloway is known for nationally and globally.”
