Santa’s Workshop, which received funding from the Royal Holloway university’s Student Opportunities Fund, is one of Royal Holloway Volunteering’s student led projects and was organised by team leader Lauren Rowe and project leaders Muhammad Hammad and Ben Norris. Students and staff from across the university donated items from mince pies and chocolates to candles and toiletries. Volunteers wrapped over 100 gifts which, supported by Age UK Surrey, will now be distributed to older people across the local community. Gifts are also being passed to the Manor Farm Day Centre in Egham.

Phil Simcock, Volunteering Manager at Royal Holloway, said: “We are so pleased to be able to hold our annual Santa’s Workshop once more. It has been a great success, generating lots of donations from across our university community.

“With the help of our partners Age UK Surrey and Manor Farm Day Centre, we hope to spread joy and support to our local community this festive season, especially for older people who may be facing Christmas alone this year.”
