The revised outline planning application for up to 1,400 student study bedrooms at Rusham Park in Egham has been approved, subject to conditions, by Runnymede Borough Council (RBC).
This application for the student village at Rusham Park is supported by two separate applications; one for a variation to the use of the existing car park on the site, and the other to establish a Southern link road to allow for a shuttle bus service connecting Rusham Park with the existing campus.
The application to allow the university use of the existing car park at Rusham Park was approved at the meeting of the RBC planning committee in January, and the application for the Southern link road was approved in December.
As a package, these applications seek to allow the university the option of progressing its plans to develop and bring forward the delivery of additional student bed spaces comprehensively on one site. This is accompanied by a series of measures to deliver the necessary infrastructure to improve accessibility and safe passage between Rusham Park, the main campus and Egham for students, staff and local people.
