Royal Holloway has invested in the new Omnidrome Research and Innovation Centre which builds upon the University’s expertise in drone technology, robotics, security and development of autonomous vehicles.
Omnidrome integrates aerial, land-based, and submersible drones and sensors, including a bespoke Training and Testing Facility which is due to launch in summer 2023.
The Training and Testing Facility is a bespoke hangar which will allow operators to develop and test specialist remote-controlled and autonomous drones in a confined, safe space, in compliance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) guidelines and without disrupting residents, or those on campus.
The Omnidrome Research and Innovation Centre will act as a springboard for engagement with industry partners, local government, non-governmental organisations, and commercial partners and offers a unique opportunity to support the University’s students and staff in delivering world-leading research, innovation, education and knowledge exchange.
