Covid-19 Local Testing Site

Covid-19 Local Testing Site

  • Date21 October 2020

Royal Holloway is supporting Surrey County Council by providing space on its Egham campus for a semi-permanent Covid-19 Local Testing Site (LTS).

The LTS has been established on campus for students, staff and members of the local community with symptoms of Covid-19 and is likely to be operational for at least the next six months and appointments must be booked via the government’s central testing system.

Ruth Hutchinson, Director of Public Health for Surrey, said:

“Rates of Coronavirus infections are rising fast across the country, and Surrey is no exception.

“We're at a crucial point and now is the time to do everything you can to limit the spread of the virus. That's why we've been working closely with the university to improve access to testing at Royal Holloway over the coming weeks and months.

“I can’t say it enough – keep washing your hands, wear face coverings when required, and don’t get together in groups of more than 6. Social distancing is one of the best ways to limit the spread of the virus.

“It has been a really tough year for all of us, and I know people are starting to feel ‘Covid fatigue’. But things are changing quickly and we need to get our infection rates back down.

“If we all follow the guidelines we still have the chance to get the situation under control and avoid any further restrictions."
